A Christian is someone who believes and puts Christ teachings into practice. It is therefore expected for Christians in Singapore, and those in different parts of the world, to believe that their life will be judged according to the actions they made while they were still living. And before they bid goodbye to a departed loved one, they pay respect to his or her life by holding a funeral ceremony. A typical Christian funeral Singapore ceremony is expected to carry out activities that are in line with Christ's teachings.

For a devoted follower of Christ, a Christian funeral is a celebration of the soul of the deceased as it journeys to eternal life. That's why unlike other funeral or memorial services, Christian ways are more interactive. They honor the life of the deceased by gathering and by sharing stories and pictures, as well as by arranging a special program before they finally say goodbye to the departed loved one. Christians also believe that death isn't the end of life, rather a fresh start to a better life where the deceased won't feel any pain or sufferings. The bereaving family finds comfort in the knowledge that their loved one is now in the comfort of the Lord's eternal love.

Funeral services can be held at the church where the deceased used to visit when he or she was still living or at the crematorium. The ceremony which is often lead by a minister would have a reading of verses from the Scriptures, personal readings, prayers, reflection, and commendation and farewell.

The ceremony begins with an opening reading from the Holy Scripture. It says that the Lord is both the resurrection and the life. He who lives and believes in Him shall never die. Then, it is followed by gospel reading and the sermon. What will follow next are the personal readings. The priest will give a brief reflection on the life of the deceased and mention things that are significant to his or her role as a Christian. A friend or a family member may also share a brief story or a poem for the deceased person. This will be followed by prayers of thanksgiving and penitence, reflection, and committal.

These days, Singapore funeral services come with a short fellowship reception where refreshments and foods are distributed. And unlike funeral practices of other religions, Christians don't usually have any graveyard ceremony.
