Divorce is usually the last thing that comes to mind when two people are tying the knot. At this point in time, they never imagine that they will one day have to part ways. SA divorce lawyers are persons who offer legal representation services to divorcees in a court of law. The services they provide are very important. They may not necessarily represent the divorcee in court; they can as well offer advice to the client relating to his or her case.

Separation cases are best handled by persons who have relevant qualifications in the legal field. The legal field is a very wide field with several branches. The branch under which such a case would fall is known as family law. A lawyer whose specialization is family law is the best person to trust such a case with. He or she is bound to be conversant with what the law says in relation to the case at hand. A lawyer who is not specialized in any branch of the law is referred to as a general practitioner. It is not advisable to trust a general practitioner with a divorce case. He or she may not have all the relevant information needed for such a case.

These lawyers have two options to choose from in their work. They can choose to work as private individual attorneys or choose to get employed in a law firm. Working as private practitioners has the advantage of being in self-employment.

On the other side of the coin, working through a law firm is advantageous in the sense that the lawyer is sure that he or she has a pay cheque come end month. Another advantage of law firms is that they are regarded to be more reliable than individual private practitioners. This means that they will have more clients.

Divorce lawyers cannot work without a license. In order to get a license the lawyer has to register with relevant authorities in his or her area of operation. There is no shortcut on this one.

The cost of separating form a spouse can be quite high. More so if the court hearings take a long time. A divorcee can reduce the cost by looking for the lawyer who offers the best rates for representation.

Experienced SA divorce lawyers are better placed to handle separation cases. A divorcee is better off having his or her case handled by an experienced lawyer. An inexperienced legal professional may not know the intricacies of such a case. Experience means that the lawyer in question is an expert at handling these cases.
