Get Better Waiter Tips In The Middle Of A Financial Crunch

Being a waiter isn't the best paying job if you will just look at your basic wage. But it is possible to earn more by making bigger waiter tips. Gratuities can help you pay bills on time and even take a vacation every now and then. But it is harder to get tips these days because of a lagging economy.

You can still make bigger tips despite a bad economy. If you didn't know, more millionaires were created during times of economic depression. Am not saying that you will become a millionaire by being a waiter, it's just that it really isn't impossible to earn larger gratuities now. There are some tricks you can do to get more waiter tips. Try these today and see if they can earn you larger gratuities by the end of the day.

1. Avoid wearing fancy jewelry to work or using flashy fashion accessories. During touch times, everyone tones down with flashy fashion accents and don't usually wear expensive clothing. Come to work in your ironed uniform minus the fake or real diamond studs or branded watches. If you still want to get waiter tips it is still important to look good and clean but leave the pearl earrings at home. Dress neatly but suggesting you need extra cash for basic necessities.

2. Subtlety let customers know that you need larger gratuities by discreetly letting them take a peek at your personal life. Let them know, in passing that you are a working university student, or mention your 5 year old daughter is about to go to school this year. Diners will be more generous with waiter tips if they know their money will go to a good cause.

3. Show that you care about their wallet. When a whole family of 5 or 6 come in, suggest value meals and bottomless drinks. This allows your customer to feed his family on less money and enables them to save enough for waiter tips too. They will appreciate that you made it possible for his family to enjoy a meal for less money.

4. Be accommodating to your customer's kids. If you see a customer come in with a couple of hyperactive children, bring out some crayons and coloring books so their mom can eat in peace. Offer kiddie meals that the children will enjoy eating and ask the kids about their soccer practice or school activities. You can even give a small child a cheap plastic toy and get bigger waiter tips in return.

5. Be positive instead of negative. Your mood can be contagious and f you show a more pleasant demeanor, you will likely make your customer more cheerful. He won't enjoy his meal if you start talking about sad things or how the economy isn't really improving. By simply smiling more often, you can make your customer more generous because he will be in a better mood.

You can't make larger gratuities if you simply take orders and bring food over, period. You have to show a little more concern for your customers. Go the extra mile to make your diners enjoy their meal more and you will surely get better waiter tips. Try these tricks and see if you can make more tips tonight. It's worth the shot, just remember to psych yourself to be nicer and more thoughtful.
