How to make delivering parcels cheaper and easier

Due to the economic downturn, many businesses are trying to keep costs down and make savings wherever they can. The recession has hit smaller businesses particularly hard, but there are plenty of ways to save money.

No matter the size of your business, one key area in which you can cut costs is in parcel delivery. Many businesses are happy to use Royal Mail, as it offers reasonably priced and flexible services. Despite this, however, it is not the cheapest or the best to use if you are a business trying to save money.

Two main drawbacks are evident when you rely on Royal Mail for all your company's parcel delivery needs. First of all, you still have to spend a lot of your valuable time organising the shipment and tracking it. Secondly, you can't get the discounts on sending mail and parcels in bulk, like those that are on offer with many other parcel delivery services.

Similar problems exist when businesses book their orders directly with major carriers like DHL and UPS etc. You aren't necessarily getting the cheapest rates, and you still have to book and track the delivery yourself.

One of the best ways for businesses to save money when sending mail, parcels and packages is to use a freight forwarding service. These act as the middle man between you and the carrier, so all you have to do is place the order and the freight forwarder will choose the best, quickest and most affordable service for you.

Fast online booking is usually available at all times of the day or night with many of these freight forwarding services, as is online tracking of orders. What's more, these services are able to use their considerable buying power to get huge discounts on carrier's standard rates and pass these savings on to you.
